Don't @#$% With Richard Warman: Part V (The Salman Hossain Edition)

We've written about Salman Hossain a few times on this blog, including the fact that this virulent anti-semite had been getting away with his tired shtick for far too long. He was clearly in violation of the criminal code and should have been arrested. The authorities did finally issue an arrest warrant, but by that time Hossain had left the country and was able to continue to spew his vile hatred with impunity.

Since the proper authorities couldn't seem to deal with him, someone else needed to step up to the plate:

I am pleased to note that US website hosting company HiVelocity has terminated service to the latest incarnation of Salman HOSSAIN’s hate website “filthyjewishterrorists’ [sic] following a complaint I lodged with them about its violation of their Terms of Service (TOS).

HOSSAIN is a fugitive from justice wanted in Canada for criminal charges of promotion of genocide and the willful promotion of hatred. His website is most infamous for its calls for genocide against the worldwide Jewish population and attacks against Western military forces. His INTERPOL arrest notice can be seen here so if you see him feel free to drop a dime on him.

After I saw Adrian Humphreys’ latest piece in the National Post about HOSSAIN’s website reappearing, I contacted my colleagues at the International Network Against Cyber Hate (INACH) who helped track down HOSSAIN’s new server. I submitted my concerns to HiVelocity about the fact that HOSSAIN’s website contents violated several portions of their TOS and they responded in short order by terminating service.

Kudos are due to Adrian Humphreys and Stewart Bell of the National Post for following the story, INACH’s German member Jugendschutz for their assistance, but especially HiVelocity for doing the right thing. The world is a modestly better place for the absence of HOSSAIN’s garbage.

The usual suspects often complain that Mr. Warman only goes after people who are, shall we say, a whiter shade of pale? This sort of puts that argument to rest, though we're sure that it won't stop the usual suspects from continuing to claim as such.

There is an interesting comparisson between Mr. Hossain and Bill White. Mr. Warman had also gone after White and attempted to have his hate-filled website prevented from being viewed in Canada. The usual suspects, including our good friends at Free Dominion (here and here as well) were pretty critical of Mr. Warman's efforts in that case. We wonder if their views have changed now that Salman Hossain has been shut down by Warman?

UPDATE: And as if on cue, Bill White was convicted in his federal trial today for solicitating an attack of a jury foreman involved in the Matt Hale trial.

I totally support the Anti-Racist struggle, but is anyone else the least bit concerned that Warman is apparently trying to get the Canadian state to prevent Canadians from accessing certain websites? Do we really want a "Great Firewall of Canada" which the state can use to censor what we access online? This line of action seems like a really, really bad idea to me.
